Calligraphy Tools
The main tools required for calligraphy is pens and brushes, they can be pointed or flat. These are required because in calligraphy the width of the letters vary.
With pointed pens or brushes these variations in thickness are provided by variations in force on the pen or brush.
With flat or broad pens or brushes, the variations are given by the variation of the angle at which the pen is held relative to the direction of the stroke.

What is Calligraphy?
Calligraphy is actually a visual art, or sometimes called fancy lettering and is defined as”the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner”.
Modern calligraphy ranges from hand lettering inscriptions to many pieces of fine art. There are many forms of calligraphy, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic to just Gothic styles.
The actual word means beautiful writing! Calligraphy can be traced back to as far as 20,000 years ago. Modern calligraphy has it’s roots in the Latin language. Monks used it and infused the script with a flourishing style that would add glory to the letters themselves as if to make the inscriptions worthy of the holy words they were conveying, It became known as Gothic and was the original form of European calligraphy as we think of it today.
